POSITION OVERVIEW:
Position Summary
The Access Services Librarian oversees all aspects of circulation, interlibrary loan and reserve services, prioritizing a user-centered and holistic approach to improve the user experience for the Golden Library. The Access Services Librarian performs a variety of operational duties involving library systems and procedures to provide access to the collection and assists patrons in the use of library resources and services both in person and online. Primary responsibilities include supervision and policy development for circulation, interlibrary loan, course reserve services and copyright guidance to the instructional community. The Access Services Librarian participates in staffing the Reference Desk in person and online, serves as a bibliographic liaison for multiple subject areas on campus and also participates in providing information literacy instruction as needed. Some evening and weekend duty may be required.

REQUIREMENTS:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Working in a team-oriented environment, the Access Services Librarian will:

  • Supervise and train employees and student workers who perform circulation, interlibrary loan and reserves services.
  • Manage all aspects of circulation, interlibrary loan and course reserves services for the Golden Library, including physical and digital course materials, and the policies and systems related to these services.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in policy, practices, and technologies as they pertain to access services, interlibrary loan, document delivery, user experience and academic librarianship in general.
  • Suggest, coordinate, and facilitate user engagement initiatives geared towards improving user services.
  • Monitor trends and recommend emerging technologies for resource sharing and copyright management to strategically discover, plan, and improve library services in light of evolving technologies, patron experiences, and business opportunities.
  • In collaboration with the Golden Library Systems Administrator, maintain and configure circulation, reserves and other access services policies within the ILS.
  • Serve as a collection development liaison for assigned disciplines and collaborate with faculty to develop these areas of the print and digital collections.
  • Provide reference services and research/information literacy instruction as needed.
  • Assist with specialized reports and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to Golden Library initiatives that further ENMU’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Minimum Job Requirements:
A master’s degree in Library Science and a minimum of two years experience (in the most recent five years) directly related to the duties specified is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of all facets of library operations.
  • Familiarity of trends in library access services and the user experience.
  • Experience working with an Integrated Library System (WMS preferred).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Office 360) and familiarity with virtual/webex meeting technologies.
  • Demonstrated initiative and proven ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changes in the profession.
  • Evidence of excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Evidence of problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate client informational needs and to determine appropriate alternative solutions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed during normal work hours with some evening and weekend hours.
  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
